The purpose of the LELO Priority Hire Re-licensing program is to increase the number of individuals interested in construction with driver’s licenses, so they can access apprenticeships program and ultimately work on the City public works projects. The Puget Sound Regional Pre-Apprenticeship Collaborative identified the lack of a valid driver’s license as one of the top barriers to the construction industry. Women and people of color are underrepresented in the construction industry and represent in proportion the largest percent of the Washingtonians with the license suspended or revoked.
LELO provides re-licensing support prioritizing residents of these City-identified economically distressed ZIP Codes.
The City of Seattle supports construction jobs and meaningful employment for those in our community through programs that prepare and train workers for careers with family-sustaining wages.
